You’re one Hot Class away from feeling amazing.

The Original Hot Yoga HB Beginner’s Guide

🌞 Welcome to Your First Hot Class at Original Hot Yoga HB!

Here’s what to expect—and how to set yourself up for success.

Before You Arrive: Get Ready for Your First Visit.

  • Create your account in advance and purchase a class pass to reserve your spot.  Our Intro Pass is the optimal way to experience all we have to offer. This trial is specifically designed so you can come to all class styles, try what we have to offer, and acclimate to the heated room.

  • Choose your 1st Class on the Schedule - our signature class is Original Hot Yoga 90 minutes, this is the Bikram Yoga or 26 & 2 BEGINNER’s Class, or Original Hot Yoga 60 which is the same sequence just a bit shorter.

  • A note on Original Hot 90 Bikram Yoga: Bikram yoga is a 90-minute, 26-pose hot yoga sequence in approximately 105°F room, great for beginners when prepared with lots of water, breathable clothes, and an early arrival to get settled. Focus on instructor verbal cues and calm breathing, don't worry about perfect form, take breaks if needed, and know that consistency builds strength, not depth and over exertion. The set sequence helps build familiarity, making it a moving meditation. The same 26 poses are practiced in this class each time so you become familiar with frequent practice and you experience the improvements over time.

    • Original Hot Yoga & Fitness HB offers other supportive classes on the schedule and all other classes are also suitable for new students including: Original Hot Express, less verbal cues, Hot 26+, less verbal cues and variations of poses, Hot Sculpt which is Hot Pilates Style Interval Training Strength Class, and Strength & Stretch which is a combination of HIIT-Pilates followed by Hot Yoga and is our most challenging class.

  • After you book your class, be sure to plan ahead and arrive 5–10 minutes early. Check in at the front desk so you can get a tour and get situated when you arrive.

    • Doors open 15 minutes before class and class starts on time.  Please note, Hot Classes start on time and late students are not able to enter for your benefit, so arrive a few minutes early and get yourself situated and ready for a great class!

What to Bring & Wear

  • Wear comfortable, breathable activewear, shorts and fitted tops work best.

  • Bring:

    • Plain water

    • Yoga mat

    • Large towel to place over your mat.  We sweat a good amount during class, so a large towel is key for safety and comfort.

    • For Sculpt and Strength and Strength *& Stretch hand weights are provided. Check the description of the class for any optional equipment.

  • Forgot something? We sell mats and yoga towels at the studio ranging from $10–$110.

  • Arrive well-hydrated and avoid heavy meals for a few hours before class.

During Class: What It’s Like Inside the Hot Room:

  • Plan to stay for the full class, but know that breaks are encouraged.

  • Sit down or rest anytime—listening to your body is part of the practice. Pro tip, sitting down is best at first than lying down so you stay focused and don’t feel dizzy gettin cup and down.

  • Keep your breathing calm and steady in and out through the nose so you remain calm and in control.

  • Drink water as needed and know we do have water breaks as a class.

  • Most importantly: do your best and let go of the rest. You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.  Regular attendance in the Hot Room is the best way to get better, feel better, and acclimate to the environment. Original Bikram Yoga was specifically designed to help heal injuries and improve physical and mental wellbeing, no matter what your back ground or fitness level is.

After Class: Wind Down & Keep Going!

  • Rehydrate and eat well after class.

  • Schedule your next visit right away—attending regularly in your first month helps you experience the full physical and mental benefits of the practice.  We recommend 3-5 times per week during your trial to get the most benefits.

You did it! ✨
Your first class is the hardest—everything after that gets better. We can’t wait to see you back tomorrow 😊
